The Community
Whenever I register for a forum especially forums with 100+ members I always feel a bit confused and estranged from the staff and community. Cliques have formed and the atmosphere of "warning do not post unless you tend to make this your life" hangs me by the neck. To ensure that this isn't you we have designed a Getting the Most out of your Membership Guide to make the transition from guest to member smoother. Be sure to finish reading the rules here and signing the rules before reading the guide. Thanks!
Keeping it Confidential
Please be aware that sharing any personal information whether it is your social network profiles or phone numbers is dangerous. We advise that you uphold from posting this information to the general public and withholding it from other members. If you do feel yourself wanting to extend that information then please do so in a private message to the user. Once the information has been shared the Staff here cannot take it back nor do any form of regulation once it leaves the forum.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Aretha Franklin spelled out the words for a reason. Respect is the key rule of the forum. It expands to the use of derogatory terms or references regarding sexual preference, religion, gender, race, ethnicity, creed, political affiliation and so forth. Please reframe from obscene, profane and vulgar images, language and overall content.
Keep Profanity to a Minimum
Remember that this forum is for 13+. This means that the age of the members range from 13 to a million. This rule is in compliance with the Proboards Terms of Service. If you violate this rule, it counts as a violation for the forum thus the regulation on this rule is pretty strict.
No Flaming/Trolling
Although this forum is called "Life Unscripted" we would like to keep the atmosphere as light and friendly as possible. Constructive criticisms and open debates are highly encouraged here, however knocking one for their opinion or any forum of discrimination is considered flaming. Need an example of flaming/trolling? PM a Staff Member
Respecting the Staff
No you do not have to bow down to the staff, nor do you have to take abuse or accept their judgment as the divine order of things. Respecting the staff entitles using appropriate language when addressing them, following the rules, considering their decisions, private messaging them with concerns and so forth. It is really the same as respecting anyone else in the community.
No Spamming
Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages (SPAM) is not allowed here. What constitutes as spam? Posting a single word post, a single letter or word per line in a thread, double posting when not appropriate and the general smack of the keyboard. It is nothing something most users do, but for the few that do there is a rule against it.
The Discussions
This is really to re-state the above category. Keep everything clean, respectful and follow the rules. If you need to report a topic or post to a moderator or administrator then please either PM the staff of the board or hit the <report to mod> link found in every thread.
PM, Emails, IM & More
This really just ties in with keeping it confidential. You have the option of hiding or revealing your email address so be sure to use it! You also have the option of sharing your Yahoo, AOL, MSN and ICQ messenger with the community. If you choose to show any of your contact information then please be aware that you are allowing any user to view this information. If you only want to be contacted through the forum then use the Private Messaging (PM) system. It is something that we can monitor.
Activity Checks & Leave of Absence
Activity Checks are done every 2-3 months. The activity checks are used by the Staff for statistics purposes, for improvements, feedback and occasionally advertising. Your username is never mentioned outside the forum and the activity check only consists of signing the activity check thread. This may be used in the future for a forum cleanup and removing extraneous/inactive accounts.
Leave of Absence: We ask that you please inform us if you have an extended leave of absence from the forum for more than 2 weeks! This is crucial during activity checks and keeping our community active. Whether you are an all-star member or a new member your absence is noticed and we await your return!
Disclaimers & Credits
There are several parts of the forum that you can post art & literature of any nature (as long as it is PG-13). We ask that if you are sharing work that is not yours that you link back or give credit to the original creator and that have a disclaimer in your post. A disclaimer is as simple as saying that it is not your material. We are not strict here, however this is emphasized since it is a form of plagiarism. Just think about if your stuff was used without permission or redistributed for general use without your knowledge. How would you feel? This goes the same way.
Avatars, Signatures & Graphics
We ask that avatar are kept 100x100 and signatures no more than 600x300 to ensure faster loading time for the forum and keeping the boards from stretching. The avatar and signatures can be of anything and anyone as long as they are in compliance with Proboards Term of Service and of course are PG-13. If the Avatar, Signature or any other graphic is not yours then please give credit! If found in a general search image search then credit is not necessary.
Advertising & Affiliating
Only Members are allowed to Affiliate and it is one of the privileges mentioned here. Both guest and current members are allowed to advertise in the advertising board as long as they met Proboards Terms of Service. If your website, forum, board, blog or so forth does not meet the Proboards Terms of Service or this forums rules we have the right to remove it.
Advertising is allowed within your profile and signature space in addition to the advertising board. We only ask that you don’t replace your signature to just advertising but perhaps just place the link or refer to you profile.
